Bitter Birds debut full length featuring Singer Mayberry on guitar and vocals and David Lujan on drums, vocals and bass organ. Playing music together since around 2004 in their former band Red Leaves, Lujan and Mayberry started this new project as a duo in 2011. Discovering the best way to act as both drummer and bass player for the band, Lujan built a foot pedal organ keyboard to play live and record with. They are now on their second iteration of bass pedal keys and the result can be heard on this album.

lyrics

we can take the long way home
but I have to write this down before it's gone
we can ride slow pushing on
If we ride slow we'll make it home.
you know me I always feel alone
I want you I want you, all I know
too many things between stop and go
you're leaning to the side about to fall

all we have to do is take it slow
If you want you've got to take it slow
we can touch our bikes to the road
if that's what makes you happy my love
it's dark outside with nowhere to go
we were happy in the past or so I'm told
no I could never be so bold
to suggest there's better things
down the road

about

Bitter Birds Austin, Texas

Bitter Birds “lures the senses in with a brooding, slightly more experimental side of indie pop, which some fans have compared to early Cure – less poppy and more deliciously bleak.” – Laurie Gallardo, Austin Music Minute KUTX 98.9
